How to calculate a percentage
For a percentage of a number, divide the percentage by 100 and multiply it by the number.
Formula: (percentage ÷ 100) × number
Examples
15% of 200 = 30. Calculate (15 ÷ 100) × 200 = 30.
30 is 15% of 200. Calculate (30 ÷ 200) × 100 = 15%.
200 to 230 is a 15% increase. Calculate ((230 − 200) ÷ 200) × 100 = 15%.
